<p>If you happen to stay up late enough to catch the persuasive infomercial on television, then you&#8217;ll know the unsightly contraption is actually a piece of fitness equipment that&#8217;s supposed to get users muscled up, no dumbbells required.</p>
<p>It&#8217;s called the TRX. Super Bowl-winning quarterback Drew Brees reportedly uses the system to stay in shape.</p>
<p>Developed by an American Navy SEAL who made the original TRX out of sewn-together parachute webbing, the suspension training system is one of the latest trends to create a buzz in the fitness world.</p>
<p>Today, personal trainer Allan Zimmer instructs four young women in his studio to each climb into a TRX unit and pushes them through a particular exercise.</p>
<p>Each of the women &#8212; Kym Shwaluke, Kellea Johnston, Denise Young and Kathy Vlaming &#8212; attempts to tackle the allotted task.</p>
<p>A droplet of sweat moves slowly down Young&#8217;s face. The real estate agent is strapped into a TRX doing her best single-leg squat.</p>

<p>I found this great article for you that will be of great interest if you want to change the state of high school athletics in your town for the better.</p>
<p>And if you want to turn out  stronger, more competitive and less injury prone athletes while costing your school far less money by introducing your athletes to suspension training.</p>
<p>Casey Stutzman is a high school football coach,  a certified personal trainer and strength and conditioning coach.</p>
<p>He revitalized the entire athletics program at Alpena High School where he works by introducing the TRX Suspension Trainer.</p>
<p>The TRX Suspension trainer is a portable gym that was invented by a Navy SEAL and is currently being used by pro athletes and trainers in virtually all sports.</p>
<p>The gym at Alpena High School sounds a lot like the high school that I went to.  It was too small and we had one weight machine with about six stations.   When we did get to use it we had to line up and in the time we had we would get one rep in if we were lucky.</p>
<p>Back then we thought that workout machines were the way to go but now we know better.</p>
<p>Machines isolate different parts of the body while the TRX Suspension Trainer works your entire core with each and every exercise.</p>
<p>The TRX also allows you to perform over 300 core exercises anywhere and at anytime.</p>
<p>Students not only can work out at their school athletic facility but they can also set the TRX up at home in mere seconds by attaching it to a door or a tree to workout in their back yard.</p>

<p>Our industry is in a constant state of change.</p>
<p>Included in this metamorphosis is our training of young athletes with more emphasis being placed on movement skills and functional training as opposed to traditional weight training.</p>
<p>The TRX is at the forefront of this student athlete movement.</p>
<p>No other tool is as appropriate or as versatile for training this user group. TRX can be used in the weight room, on the basketball court, outside… you name it!</p>
<p>I began working with Alpena High School (AHS) and their athletic programs four years ago as a private contractor.</p>
<p>As with most high schools, the AHS weight room is poorly shaped, under sized and on a very tight budget.</p>
<p>An additional challenge was the limited understanding of proper training methodology for young athletes.</p>
<p>TRX has changed the way I train our young athletes.</p>
<p>They have seen greater increases in strength and performance and a decrease in weight room injuries and excessive joint pain (caused when developing bodies try to lift heavy weights!).</p>

<p>As you have seen in this years Tour De France unfortuneately crashes are a big part of cycling.</p>
<p>At times the riders are bunched up closely in a group and all kinds of bumping takes place.</p>
<p>Things get worse when the streets are wet from rain or if there are icy conditions.</p>
<p>It is probably inevitable that you will someday crash&#8230;</p>

<p>The Tour de France (starting this Saturday, July 3 – set your TiVo now!) tests pro cyclists with three straight weeks of racing. During those three weeks, the smallest edge can make the difference between a rider winning the race and dropping out.</p>
<p>That’s why Radio Shack, the team of seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and three-time Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer, brought Allen Lim on board as the team’s sport scientist.</p>
<p>Lim earned his reputation as a forward-thinking innovator in the cycling world with his groundbreaking Ph.D. dissertation on power meter-based training at the University of Colorado-Boulder years before wattage-based training became the norm for competitive cyclists.</p>
<p>Prior to joining the Shack, Lim played the same role for the Garmin-Transitions team where he worked with athletes including four-time US time trial champion Dave Zabriskie and Tour de France contender Christian Vande Velde.</p>
<p>“My role at Radio Shack is to think about innovation, think about technology, think about the processes the guys go through and bring innovations to the team that work day to day. Some ideas people bring to me don’t fit into the culture or the daily routine and end up being logistically implausible to use.”</p>

<p>I found a great post that will interest you if you are a beginner at suspension training or you  would like to buy a TRX but are not sure what to expect or how to start.</p>
<p>You have probably seen the TRX Suspension trainer in our banners and around the internet.</p>
<p>Usually the TRX images show some buff athlete or Super Bowl Champion Quarterback Drew Brees using it.</p>
<p>You may be surprised to know however that the TRX was also featured on the Biggest Loser TV show.</p>
<p>This serves as proof that even obese and out of shape people can use and benefit from using the TRX.</p>

<p>How hard could it be?</p>
<p>Well aware that these are famous last words, I watched three women of my generation work out with the &#8220;TRX Suspension Training&#8221; system, still thinking the strap was tame. I&#8217;d slacked off of my pushups and sit-ups, and I&#8217;d added some weight in recent months, but still: How hard could it be?</p>
<p>It arrived coiled in a little sack no larger than a lunch bag. Even with its center clipped to a stud or overhead beam, TRX becomes two limp, dangling straps.</p>
<p>Well, I&#8217;m here to tell you, that&#8217;s what my arms were the next morning: limp, dangling&#8211;and sore. Yes, it was a good sore, the burning sore that reminds you what a great workout you had.</p>

<p>I found a great article for you if you are a cyclist (of any age or  ability)  and you would like a way to workout at home or on the road anywhere, year round.</p>
<p>According to the following article seven time Tour De France Champion Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer are using the TRX Suspension Trainer per the recommendation of their trainer Allen Lim.</p>
<p>What&#8217;s so exciting to me is that they are using a piece of equipment that just about anyone can afford.</p>
<p>According to trainer Lim he chose the TRX Suspension Trainer so that his team can do strength maintenance, balance, mobility and core work throughout the year.</p>

<p>The Tour de France (starting this Saturday, July 3 – set your TiVo now!) tests pro cyclists with three straight weeks of racing. During those three weeks, the smallest edge can make the difference between a rider winning the race and dropping out.</p>
<p>That’s why Radio Shack, the team of seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong and three-time Tour of California winner Levi Leipheimer, brought Allen Lim on board as the team’s sport scientist.</p>
<p>Lim earned his reputation as a forward-thinking innovator in the cycling world with his groundbreaking Ph.D. dissertation on power meter-based training at the University of Colorado-Boulder years before wattage-based training became the norm for competitive cyclists.</p>
<div>Prior to joining the Shack, Lim played the same role for the Garmin-Transitions team where he worked with athletes including four-time US time trial champion Dave Zabriskie and Tour de France contender Christian Vande Velde.</div>
<p>“My role at Radio Shack is to think about innovation, think about technology, think about the processes the guys go through and bring innovations to the team that work day to day. Some ideas people bring to me don’t fit into the culture or the daily routine and end up being logistically implausible to use.”</p>

<p>This is for you if want to run faster than a speeding bullet.</p>
<p>It is called the TRX  Super Fast workout and it is awesome.</p>

<p style="text-align: left;">The following article  addresses the risk of injury caused by sudden deceleration in soccer due to a lack of strength and  agility.</p>

<p>When soccer players change direction at full speed, we like to coach them to use the inside leg (athlete’s left leg in Figure 1 below) as their primary decelerator.</p>
<p>This is not to say that the outside leg has no role in the deceleration. The outside leg needs to finish the deceleration and begin the push into the acceleration phase.</p>
<p>When an athlete tries to use the outside leg as the primary decelerator, the result is usually knee, torso or shoulder sway (Figure 1), which causes the center of mass to shift toward the outside leg, away from the direction the athlete is trying to run.</p>
<p>This causes delays in the transition (i.e. the ability to get out of a directional change quickly), thus making the athlete appear to get “stuck” in the cut.</p>
