Yep I poked fun at my friend for paying 220 pounds for his TRX but then to his credit he has less time on his hands then I do to mess around. I like to think of myself as a kind of Jack of All trades person, while he works hard at his job and so can afford to pay others to do all the messing about.
Each to his own.
I do think when TRX set profits margins so disproportionately high they invite criticism like jacks, but then I guess they have to make as much money as they can before the next fitness wonder product comes along.

Nice work Andy!
I agree, if you can do it, go for it! I guess a lot of what we pay for is convenience. I thought about building my own living room furniture at one time, but nixed the idea because it would take me too long.

I made it myself from some "DIY TRX" instructions I found on youtube. I added bike handlebar grips to the pipe to make it more comfortable though.
I have used it alongside my friends TRX and I have to say there is very little difference, the only one being that his is a bit more convenient to adjust the left-side to right-side ratio length. I can replicate that easily enough with a later project.
The whole thing took 10 minutes to make. I had considered selling them also but in this day and age of crazy patents your likely to get sued for some fundamental concept that has been used for ages but that some company has recently decided is their own original idea©. I heard TRX tried and failed to sue someone for the foot loops?!? Nuts.. I dont need that agro.

Hey Jack,
You're right. In fact, if you were smart you'd go out and buy some webbing and buckles, tie them all together and sell them for $40 and make $10 profit per sale.
Why waste time posting on this site when you could be raking in the big bucks. Actually, don't you work with metals? You could fabricate the buckles instead of having to buy them. C'mon, you're smarter than this aren't you? Good point though.
