Congratulations to Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints who defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 in Super Bowl XLIV.

Brees has come a long way since the final game of the 2005 NFL season in which he suffered a torn labrum in his throwing shoulder. Upon his release from the San Diego Chargers who had acquired a promising young quarterback in Philip Rivers, Brees began thinking that his career was declining.

After surgery was performed to repair his shoulder, Brees began working out with the TRX Suspension Trainer developed by ex-Navy Seal Randy Hetrick.

It was Saints head coach Sean Payton who believed enough in Brees to want to make him the starting quarterback of a New Orleans team that never had much success. When Brees toured the devastation left behind by hurricane Katrina, he knew that not only did he want to be a part of rebuilding the New Orleans Saints, he wanted to help rebuild a city. New Orleans would be the perfect place to begin his own comeback.

Brees, who was the obvious choice for Super Bowl MVP completing 32 of 39 passes had this to say after the game: “Just to think of the road we’ve all traveled, the adversity we’ve all faced. Four years ago, whoever thought this would be happening? Eighty-five percent of the city was under water. Most people left not knowing if New Orleans would ever come back, or if the organization would ever come back. We just all looked at one another and said, ‘We’re going to rebuild together. We are going to lean on each other.’ That’s what we’ve done the last four years and this is the culmination in all that belief.”

At Home Workout Source has been a big fan of Drew Brees over the last two years. Congratulations to Drew, your teammates, the Saints organization and the City of New Orleans.
